Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It became the number one streamed music at that moment within just six months. In 2017, the song Despacito, which combines reggaeton with pop music, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also brought more attention to Latin music. In 2015 there were only two predominantly Spanish-speaking songs in Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. But during the peak of the Despacito's popularity in 2017 there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks which made it into the Top 100. In 2020, it was 41. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in 2017. Soon after, pop stars began to collaborate with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna collaborated with Maluma in the creation of Medellin. In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton performers were lamenting their genre's shift towards the mainstream, but a new generation, led by Rauw Alejandro, sought to keep reggaeton evolving. He often incorporated elements from electronic dance music, as well as different genres.
