Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents of Winona Ryder gave her the name of her hometown. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father and mother also happen to be Jewish. Ryder believes herself to be Jewish. She has two younger half-siblings, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated to Mendocino County in California at the age of seven. They didn't have electricity. Ryder became an avid reading book because there was television. Ryder took acting classes when Ryder was 12, and was enrolled in classes at the American Conservatory Theatre. At the age of 15years old, Ryder was offered her first acting job onscreen, playing Lucas. Ryder suffered bullying in the high school. Her hope was that the acting profession would alter the way she dealt with bullying. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. However, she kept working towards her dream. In 1988, in the year Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that gave her her first big break. Ryder was able to continue playing characters that made a splash in several movies. In 1993, Ryder was nominated two times for Academy Awards.
