Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, raised in Wellington) is an Canadian actress from Canada. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath. For this part, she was awarded an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of eleven. She is the second youngest recipient in Oscar the history of Oscars. When she responded to a request for open auditions when she was nine years old, with no acting experience before that the actress was chosen for Flora McGrath's part. Flora was the daughter of the Scottish pianist, who was deaf. They relocated to New Zealand during the middle of the 19th century in order to get married. When she was in her teens, the actress relocated to America. Paquin played Jane Eyre's main character when she was a teen in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) as well as the lead role in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a less prominent role. She played teens on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). She also portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
